Good afternoon

Airport Connector, Warwick

Now that the Post Road ramps have been milled and paved, travelers can expect one lane of travel in each direction for bridge work on Jefferson Boulevard under the Airport Connector, Monday-Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

_

Aquidneck Avenue, Middletown

Weather permitting, we will continue to grade the roadway during overnight hours and make stormwater improvements during the day. We anticipate paving to start on Tuesday night, with sidewalk work to follow. The existing detour on Aquidneck Avenue, from East Main Road to Green End Avenue (using Valley Street) will remain in place overnight from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., and the alternating one-way traffic pattern within the same project limits, weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

_

Henderson Bridge, East Providence

We do not anticipate any traffic impacts as we continue to place concrete at the bridge deck, build walls, and install communications lines at the east abutment.

I-95 North Viaduct, Providence

Various ramps may be closed at the I-95/Exit 37 interchange for concrete repairs and abutment work, Sunday-Thursday nights from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m., and alternating lanes on I-95 North, from Exit 37A to Exit 39A, for abutment work demolition and deck placements, Sunday-Thursday nights from 9 p.m.-6 a.m. Park Street North, from Holden Street to Smith Street, will also need to be closed for sidewalk construction, weekdays from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Please follow signed detours during all closures.

Pell Bridge Ramps Phase 2, Newport

Pavement removal along the south side of Admiral Kalbfus Road will finish followed by drainage and electrical work. Commuters for the Navy base can also utilize the JT Connell roadway south of the roundabout and the Connector Road for an easy alternative access point to the bridge to avoid the Admiral Kalbfus Road work zone.

Site earthwork operations are anticipated just east of JT Connell Highway near the Connector Road behind barrier. Miscellaneous site work is also expected behind barrier for the ongoing bridge rehabilitation work along Route 138 at the Third Street, Newport Secondary and JT Connell overpasses and may require temporary lane shifts along Third Street and JT Connell Highway as needed. Flaggers and police details will be onsite to help guide vehicles through the work zone.

Route 6/10 Interchange Reconstruction, Providence

Motorists should expect lane closures for overnight paving on Route 6 West, from the Plainfield Street overpass to the Hartford Avenue on-ramp, Sunday night (two left lanes) and Monday night (right lane and ramps), from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Please note: during Monday night’s operation, the on/off ramps from Hartford Avenue to Route 6 West will be closed. We’ll also have a detour for Harris Avenue northbound traffic for bridge work, from Delaine Street to Atwells Avenue, Monday-Friday nights from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Follow signed detours.

Other planned operations include improving the storm drainage along Route 10 South at Union Avenue, and pouring sidewalks along Plainfield Street at the on-ramp to Route 6 East. We also plan to install communication conduit along Route 10 North, from Broadway to Tobey Street, and continue to build a retaining wall at the approach to the Westminster Street off-ramp from Route 10 North.

Route 146, Lincoln/North Smithfield

Effective Sunday at 3 p.m. through Monday morning at 6 a.m., we need to close Route 146A South at the Spring Brook Bridge for bridge demolition. Route 146 North will also be reduced from two lanes to one. Additional bridge demolition will require us to close the Route 146 South service roads, from Route 99 to Route 116, Sunday-Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., and alternating lanes on I-295 at Route 146, and on Route 146 North and its service roads during the same time. The westbound lanes on Sayles Hill Road East, from Route 146 to Woodland Road, will also be closed for road construction, Wednesday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Overnight alternating lane closures on both directions of Route 146, from Route 99 to Route 146A, are also planned for traffic signal relocation, Sunday-Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., and road construction will necessitate daytime alternating lane closures on both directions of Route 146, from Route 146A to the Massachusetts line, and on Route 146 South at Sayles Hill Road, Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Please follow signed detours during all closures.

Washington Bridge, East Providence/Providence

Tonight, we’ll have a left lane closure for barrier removal on I-195 West, from Broadway to South Main Street, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Weather permitting, tomorrow night, Saturday, August 26, starting around 9 p.m., we’ll have alternating lane and temporary ramp closures to remove the current lane split on I-195 West and replace it with a lane shift to the left for all traffic. As part of this operation, we’ll also need to close Exit 1D (Gano Street) off I-195 West for approximately two months. Motorists can use the same detour we had in place for previous ramp closures. Once the new traffic pattern is in place, we’ll rehabilitate the bridge that carries the Gano Street off-ramp, replace its joints, and pave it. For the remainder of the week, we’ll continue bridge substructure repairs, prep work prior to steel installation at the Waterfront Drive off-ramp, and drainage work along Waterfront Drive.
