Blackstone Valley Craft and Music Festival will have something for everyone.
The event takes place on Saturday and Sunday, July 1-2, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at World War II Veterans Memorial Park.
Artisan Village” an area of the park where some 50 vendors and crafters display their wares and offer live demonstrations and do-it-yourself workshops. Highlights include a glass etcher, wood carvers, wreath-makers and workers spinning yarn from alpaca fur. Workshops include a tutu-making class at noon on both Saturday and Sunday, a foot soak at 1 p.m. Saturday, handmade bracelets with Melissa Murray at 3 p.m. on Saturday, and jeweled sun catchers with the Frolicking Goddess from 2-3 p.m. on Sunday.
The “Tastes of the Valley Food Truck Court” will feature items for purchase from vendors including Nessa’s Snack Shop, Reds and Uncle E’s BBQ Express, Sarcastic Sweets, plus snacks including kettle corn and cotton candy, with a booth featuring 15 flavors, including bacon.
In the “Kids Kingdom Craft and Play Land,” RiverzEdge Arts Project will offer a mask making and puppet workshop from 12-3 p.m. on Saturday. The kids area will also include a book fair, face painters and a group called “Medieval Kingdom” making candy aquariums. The park’s Splash Pad will also be open and guests are reminded to bring bathing suits and towels.
A Merchant Showcase, meanwhile, will host booths of local companies like Sassy Mama Cuisine and Craft Skate Shop, merchants like Pampered Chef and NewPro, and nonprofits like Riverzedge and NeighborWorks Blackstone River Valley, with some 25 tables in all.
The two-day event will also feature live entertainment with music beginning at noon on Saturday with The Tribal Medicine singers. Jay Nova will play at 5 p.m. on Saturday and Woonsocket’s own Destiny Faith will take the stage at 5:30. The band Timeless will play at 6 p.m. Sunday’s entertainment schedule includes a performance by The Vox Hunters at 5 p.m., Briana White at 5:30 and Sugarface Band featuring Miss Heidi Nirk at 6p.m.
