Preparing for the Merry Month of May
April showers bring May flowers. As we write this, it is raining. Much needed rain for Rhode Island.
May flowers will follow with May Day (a celebration of Spring) and there will be a May Day breakfast to go to on Saturday, May 1st @ 8 am - 12 pm as well as an indoor yard sale through 3 pm that continues on Sunday, May 2 @ 12 - 4 pm at St. Ann Arts & Culture Center, Woonsocket. More Info.
So soon after honoring Mother Earth we will honor mothers all around on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 9th. Maybe you'll even find something at the aforementioned yard sale?
There is also Cinco de Mayo which will be celebrated on... well Wednesday, May 5 -- of course.

Hearthside House opens for 20th Season |
Hearthside House will re-open its doors this Sunday, April 25th, from 12:30 - 4:00 pm, celebrating 20 years of preserving history with love. Learn more.
Knowledgeable docents, dressed in period costume, will tell the tales of families that have lived in the house.
If you have been before, new information has come to light and new items will be featured on the tour.
We congratulate the Friends of Hearthside and volunteers on celebrating 20 years of sharing stories and memorabilia about the "House that Love Built."
From exhibits to special events, they have provided insight and fun of the Victorian-era and beyond.
Also opening this weekend is the Pullen Schoolhouse at Chase Farm, a fairly new addition to the Hearthside campus. There you learn what it was like to be a student in a 1850 one-room school house.
The gift shop will be open both Saturday and Sunday with some special treats and gifts for Mom (read the blog linked above to learn what they have planned for Mother's Day).
The Friends of Hearthside have a wonderful year planned with some favorite events like the Victorian Garden Party & Ice Cream Social in July and of course the very popular "Gone But Not Forgotten Mourning Exhibit" & Tour in October. Red Carpet Experience:Oscar Night comes to Blackstone Valley |
Celebrate the 39th Anniversary of the Flickers Arts Collaborative and the Oscars at a SpecialDrive-In PresentationIt might say Providence, but really the Red Carpet Experience is happening in the Blackstone Valley at the Rustic Tri-View Drive-In. Instead of making this a virtual event this year, they decided to be creative and celebrate the Oscars® in unique Rhode Island style — at the Drive-In. Working with the good folks at the Rustic Tri-View Drive-In, they will provide a boxed barbeque chicken dinner (BBQ chicken breast, pasta salad, cole slaw, and corn bread) for each of their attendees and bring in a beverage truck to spice up the evening. (vegan/vegetarian options available upon request). Blackstone Valley star of stage & screen, Central Falls own Viola Davis is once again nominated for an Oscar in the Best Actress category for her role as Ma Rainey in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom. Why not join in the experience and watch as she hopefully takes home another win! |
Also coming up...Rustic will be opening for its 70th season this weekend, Friday, April 23 and Saturday, April 24 @ 6 pm, with a slate of new movies. |
