On August 22, 2024, the Providence County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Joao Resendes with one count of second-degree murder, and one count of second-degree child abuse.
The alleged acts occurred in the City of Pawtucket on diverse dates between January 14 and February 11, 2024. The Pawtucket Police Department conducted the investigation.
On August 23, 2024, the defendant was arraigned in Providence County Superior Court. The defendant is scheduled for a pre-trial conference on October 23, 2024.
