Woonsocket Shares ARPA Survey Results on

City Website

Woonsocket, R.I.: Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt announced today that responses to the survey on how the City of Woonsocket should spend approximately $36.4 million from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) have been posted on the City’s website. The survey was available during the period July 9, 2021 through August 10, 2021, and generated 154 responses, the majority of which were from City residents (87%).

Mayor Baldelli-Hunt stated, "We want to thank everyone who completed our ARPA survey. The feedback that we received from residents, businesses, workers and organizations will help us prioritize the use of ARPA funds in the best way possible." The Mayor added, "These funds represent an historic opportunity to make strategic investments that allow our community to recover from the pandemic and then move us forward towards a brighter future."

Federal funding guidelines require that projects and programs funded through ARPA be committed prior to December 31, 2024, and meet one of the eligible uses criteria as detailed below:

- Respond to the COVID-19 public health emergency or its negative economic impacts to residents and businesses.

- Provide for government services to the extent of the City’s reduction in revenue due to the pandemic.

- Provide premium pay to essential workers to protect the health and well-being of residents.

- Support infrastructure projects related to water, sewer and broadband.
