­­­­­Governor McKee Swears in Kas DeCarvalho as Rhode Island District Court Associate Judge

 

 

PROVIDENCE, RI – Governor Dan McKee today was joined by House Speaker K. Joseph Shekarchi and Senator Mark McKenney to swear in Kas DeCarvalho as the newest Associate Judge on the Rhode Island District Court.

 

Also in attendance were Congressman Gabe Amo, Lt. Governor Sabina Matos, Secretary of State Gregg Amore, and General Treasurer James Diossa.

 

“Judge DeCarvalho is a dedicated, honest, and passionate leader who brings decades of experience to the bench," said Governor McKee. "I am deeply honored to swear in Judge DeCarvalho and I thank him for his continued dedication to the people of Rhode Island."

 

“Congratulations to Kas DeCarvalho on being sworn in as Rhode Island's newest Associate Judge today,” said Speaker of the House K. Joseph Shekarchi. “Judge DeCarvalho has been working in and for our communities for decades. He is a phenomenal attorney and a wonderful person. I know he will be an exceptional addition to Rhode Island's judicial bench.”

 

“As much as anyone I have known, Kas DeCarvalho possesses the temperament we seek in our judges. He brings a unique and extraordinarily valuable perspective to the bench, and he is deeply devoted to public service. Our state is fortunate to have Judge DeCarvalho serving in the District Court. McKenney, Chairman, Senate Committee on Rules, Government Ethics & Oversight.

 

“I am so honored to have been selected to serve on the Rhode Island District Court, and I’m utterly humbled by this extraordinary opportunity to devote the rest of my career in service to the people of our State," said Judge DeCarvalho.
 
 

DeCarvalho was recently a partner at Pannone Lopes Devereaux & O’Gara LLC and a member of the firm’s Corporate & Business Team, representing a wide range of clients, including for-profit and nonprofit organizations, municipalities and governments, and private individuals with business and enterprise needs, and various regulatory, licensing and other governmental needs.

 

He fills the spot left vacant by Judge Christopher K. Smith.
