Pawtucket Extending More of the Blackstone River Bikeway

The City of Pawtucket is moving forward on their section of the Blackstone River Bikeway along Roosevelt Avenue between the Slater Mill National Historical Park and the Blackstone Valley Visitor Center. "It's great to see Pawtucket pushing the bikeway along in their city. The bikeway will extend from Providence, RI to Worcester, MA, a total of 45 miles when completed. While this section is short, it is a long-awaited section of the long-awaited bikeway", said Robert Billington, President of the Blackstone Valley Tourism Council, Inc.

The State of Rhode Island has funded this section of the Pawtucket bikeway, which is part of the statewide Rhode Island Bicycle Mobility Plan. "The Blackstone River Bikeway is the most enjoyed recreational asset the Blackstone Valley has to offer and is cycled by thousands of people each year". Having two major attractions for Pawtucket, the National Historical Park and the Tidewater Landing Football Stadium just 1/8 of a mile apart, will make this section of the bikeway exciting for local and touring cyclists", added Billington.
