Canal Boat Samuel Slater Plying the Blackstone River

The Canal Boat Samuel Slater is back plying the Blackstone River. It is a floating bed and breakfast during the spring, summer and fall but it is also available for private cruises. Based at Central Falls Landing, it was built in England for the Blackstone River and has been overnighting guests since 2000.

The Samuel Slater had a tough winter this year. "Three high water events carrying massive amounts of debris down the Blackstone River damaged the Slater and the docks that it ties up to", said Bob Billington, President of the Blackstone Valley Tourism Council. The City of Central Falls worked hard to get the docks replaced, and the Blackstone Valley Tourism Council, who owns the Slater, worked to repair damages to the vessel.

Contact the Tourism Council at 401-724-2200 or RIvertourblackstone.com to schedule a cruise or an overnight on America's only English-built canal boat. Private cruises can host up to 6 people.
