­­­­­Governor McKee Issues Proclamation Celebrating LGBTQ+ Pride Month

 

 

PROVIDENCE, RI – Governor Dan McKee today issued a proclamation designating June as LGBTQ+ Pride Month.

"Rhode Island will always be a place where everyone is free to be who they are and love who they love," said Governor Dan McKee. "I'm proud to recognize June as Pride Month in Rhode Island and to stand in solidarity with our LGBTQ+ community. I look forward to seeing everyone at the Illuminated Pride Parade in Providence on June 15!"

“Our LGBTQ+ rights are the results of generations of hard work and advocacy, and we cannot take them for granted,” said Lieutenant Governor Matos. “Today’s proclamation is a reaffirmation of our commitment to ensuring that Rhode Island is safe and welcoming no matter who you love or how you identify.”

The State House will be illuminated with Pride colors on June 1 and June 14 through June 16 for Pride Weekend and the Pride flag will also be flown above the State House.
