Roger and Mitch Savini Named Autumnfest Grand Marshals

Woonsocket – Co-Owners of Savini’s Pomodoro & Ciro’s Tavern, Roger & Micheline (Mitch) Savini (Husband & Wife) have been selected as the Co-Grand Marshals of 2024 Autumnfest Celebration by the Autumnfest Steering Committee. 

“I am over the moon happy,” said Mitch Savini when the announcement was made.  Savini went on to say, “I didn’t expect it and I was brought to tears.  I even had to sit down.  I am looking forward to spending this special Autumnfest weekend with family and friends.”

Nominated by former employee, Justin Dubois, and their daughter, Gina Savini, Roger & Mitch opened Savini’s Restaurant at 476 Rathbun Street, Woonsocket in 1980.  They purchased Ciro’s Tavern at 42 Cherry Street, Woonsocket in 2003.  Roger & Mitch have supported Autmnfest by entering floats in the Autmnfest Parade, serving French Onion Soup in the Autmnfest Food Court, and by hosting numerous events and fundraisers leading up to Autumnfest.  Roger & Mitch have been a staple in the Woonsocket community for several years serving family style foods at reasonable prices.   

The tradition has become to surprise the Grand Marshal recipient with the announcement.  This year Roger & Mitch were at Savini’s Pomodoro on May 28, 2043 when members of the current Autumnfest Steering Committee arrived and Stephanie Santoro, Autumfest General Chairperson made the announcement.

Santoro said, “Roger & Mitch Savini exemplify all that is good in the Woonsocket and Northern Rhode Island area.  From their service and dedication to the community right through to their kindness and generosity, this family will always have a special place in my heart.  I am thrilled that they were selected as Co-Grand Marshals and look forward to spending Autumnfest weekend with them in orange.”

Roger & Mitch Savini will be honored at the Autumnfest Kick-Off Party.  That event will be held on Sunday, September 22, 2024 at Savini’s Pomodoro, 476 Rathbun St., Woonsocket.
