Attorney General Neronha announces First Circuit Court’s funding freeze decision
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Attorney General Peter F. Neronha today issued the following statement regarding a new decision in favor of Plaintiff states by the First Circuit in the Office’s federal funding freeze case.
“My Office is pleased with the First Circuit’s decision to deny the Trump Administration’s attempt to gain an immediate stay of enforcement of the District Court’s TRO in our federal funding freeze case. What this means is that right now, the Court’s order remains in full force, and we expect the Administration to comply.
“Over the coming days, we will be fighting additional attempts by the Administration to stay enforcement of the TRO, while remaining vigilant regarding the administration’s ongoing compliance.”
