Citing environmental accomplishments,

House will not consider advanced recycling bill

The following is a joint statement from Speaker K. Joseph Shekarchi and House Majority Leader Chris Blazejewski:

“The House will not be considering legislation (H 8089/S 2788A) this year that adds advanced recycling as a definition for refuse disposal. We are a member-driven body and our members have spoken to us loudly and clearly that they have serious unresolved questions about this bill.

“We have had the best year ever regarding environmental legislation and we do not want to take a step backward by passing this bill. As examples, we have passed, or are about to pass, legislation that establishes the strongest renewable energy standard in the country, increases renewable energy production and supply, increases offshore wind capacity, reduces the use of plastic bags, removes harmful ‘forever chemicals’ in our water and packaging, and invests hundreds of millions of dollars to support climate resilience and the green and blue economy. We enacted the landmark Act on Climate legislation last year, and really kept the momentum rolling in our session which is wrapping up this week.”

Wilson was captured last week in Costa Rica.       The San Jose Sharks are naming Mike Grier as their new general manager. Grier becomes the first Black GM in NHL history and the fifth general manager in Sharks' franchise history. He replaces Doug Wilson, who stepped down because of health issues after 19 seasons. Grier played in more than one-thousand games with four teams over a 14-year NHL career, including the Sharks from 2006 to 2009.        "Stranger Things 4" is now Netflix's second ever title to gain over one-billion hours viewed. The show was viewed for over 300-million hours during the period of June 27th through July 3rd, with part 2 of the season only being available for three days of that period.
