Today is the Last Day for Individuals to Apply for Disaster Assistance
Today is the last day for Rhode Island residents in Kent, Providence or Washington counties affected by the winter storms and flooding to apply for FEMA assistance. They can register at DisasterAssistance dot GOV or call the FEMA help line at 1-800-621-3362.
Today marks two years since Roe v. Wade was overturned by the Supreme Court. The landmark decision ended the constitutional right for an abortion, and gave states the option to decide on restricting access or not. Over a dozen states have stopped almost all abortion services, with another three utilizing six-week bans. Federal prosecutors are recommending criminal charges against Boeing for violating a 2021 settlement related to two fatal crashes. The settlement followed a pair of crashes that related to defects in the Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft, with nearly 350 people killed in 2018 and 2019. President Biden and former President Donald Trump are preparing for their first debate set for this coming week in Atlanta. Biden has been prepping with advisers at Camp David. Trump, meanwhile, held a rally in Philadelphia on Saturday and addressed a gathering of Christian conservatives in the nation's capital organized by the Faith and Freedom Coalition. The debate hosted by CNN will take place on Thursday with no studio audience. The Edmonton Oilers have forced a Game Seven in the Stanley Cup Final. The Oilers dominated the Florida Panthers 5-1 in Edmonton on Friday, tying the best-of-seven hockey series at three games apiece. The teams will return to Florida tonight to see who wins the Stanley Cup. "Inside Out 2" continues to dominate the box office. The animated sequel added 100-million dollars in its second weekend of release and is now the highest-grossing North American release of this year.
