        AUTUMNFEST NIGHT AT McCOY STADIUM

 

Woonsocket – It will be here soon.  Autumnfest Night at McCoy Stadium in Pawtucket will be Thursday, August 24th.  The Pawtucket Red Sox will host the Buffalo Bisons in a 7:05 PM game. Autumnfest is participating in a new initiative created by the Pawtucket Red Sox called “Paws for a Cause.”

 

“On behalf of the Autumnfest Steering committee, I am so pleased to partner with the PawSox for this great fundraising effort to benefit Autumnfest,” Linda Plays, Autumnfest Steering Committee Chairperson, said.  “I hope to see many Woonsocket residents and supporters of Autumnfest that night and I’m honored that we have been selected as well.”

It looks like President Trump and the president of Iran are trading threats about war. Trump put out an all-caps tweet to Iranian President Hassan Rouhani [[ roo-HAHN-ee ]] warning him to never threaten the United States or, quote, "YOU WILL SUFFER CONSEQUENCES THE LIKES OF WHICH FEW THROUGHOUT HISTORY HAVE EVER SUFFERED BEFORE."        Police in Toronto are confirming that a woman and the gunman are dead after a mass shooting. More than a dozen others, including a young girl in critical condition, are in the hospital. It happened last night in east Toronto's Greektown neighborhood.        North Korea reportedly wants the U.S. to make a bold move and agree to a peace treaty before Pyongyang will talk any more about denuclearization. CNN cites what it calls an official with close knowledge of the North's position. That official says North Korea wants a permanent peace to replace the armistice that ended the Korean War.        A new report says suspected Russian spy Maria Butina allegedly had more high-level contacts in the federal government than previously reported. Reuters reports Butina sat in meetings with a Russian official and two officials with the U.S. Federal Reserve and the Treasury Department during the Obama administration.        Record heat is killing dozens of people in Japan as the country marks the hottest temperature ever recorded. The city of Kumagaya, about an hour and-a-half northwest of Tokyo, hit nearly 106 degrees Fahrenheit today.        You might want to rethink what you eat and drink, after a new heart study. Researchers at National Jewish Health in Denver found that mushrooms and green beans appear to be beneficial but there's a question mark about dairy products. It also found that tea, coffee, and alcohol appear to be okay but you should lay off energy drinks.
