Jury finds Lincoln man guilty of child molestation

 

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Attorney General Peter F. Neronha announced that a Lincoln has been found guilty in Providence County Superior Court of multiple counts of second-degree child molestation against three victims between 2016 and 2017.

On April 24, 2024, following a seven-day trial before Superior Court Justice Maureen B. Keough, a jury found Nicholas Oliveira (age 34) guilty of three counts of second-degree child molestation. Additionally, the defendant has been charged with first-degree child molestation in Connecticut. That case remains pending.

During the trial, the State proved beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant sexually assaulted three girls under the age of 14, all of whom were known to him, on multiple occasions between July 2016 and December 2017.

Special Assistant Attorney General Jonathan Burke of the Office of the Attorney General and Detective Richard Bousquet of the Lincoln Police Department led the investigation and prosecution of these cases.

 

 

Former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen will return to the witness stand this morning in Trump's hush money trial. The criminal trial in Manhattan was in recess yesterday. On Tuesday, Cohen was grilled by Defense Attorney Todd Blanche, and testified that he made 400-thousand dollars from his book about the former president called "Revenge."        Police in riot gear have cleared pro-Palestinian protesters from the campus of UC Irvine. Dozens of protesters on Wednesday occupied a building at the university near Los Angeles. The L.A. Times says about 200 police officers moved in on the crowd, made numerous arrests and took down their tents.        U.S. Central Command says a floating pier that will allow humanitarian aid to enter Gaza from the coast has been anchored onto the beach. CENTCOM said in a statement that military personnel anchored the pier Thursday morning to deliver "additional humanitarian aid to Palestinian civilians." Trucks are expected to begin moving the aid across the pier in the coming days.        Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has signed a law eliminating climate change from the state's energy policy. The law signed Wednesday says the Florida government will no longer be required to consider climate change when creating policy. It will also prohibit the construction of offshore wind turbines and repeal grant programs that encourage renewable energy.        The NFL is out with its regular schedule for the upcoming season. The Kickoff Game will pit the Kansas City Chiefs against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday, September 5th. The first Monday Night Football game will feature the San Francisco 49ers hosting the New York Jets.        Some of the biggest stars in country music will take the stage at the ACM Awards tonight. Miranda Lambert, Lainey Wilson, Jelly Roll and Chris Stapleton are among the stars who'll be singing. The evening's host, Reba McEntire, will also perform.
