The 18th Annual

Rhode Island Chinese Dragon Boat Races & Taiwan Day Festival

September 9th

Festival Pier

100 Tim Healey Way

Pawtucket, RI

Now in its 18th year, the Rhode Island Chinese Dragon Boat Races & Taiwan Day Festival is an extraordinary event for the whole family to enjoy!

Our races are the only one of their kind in the United States as we continue to use the fiberglass Taiwanese-style dragon boats gifted to us from the Republic of China (Taiwan) and incorporate the skill of flag-catching in each race. The Rhode Island Chinese Dragon Boat races are also one of the only races to offer large cash prizes to the winning teams

The races are broken into different divisions...so they're great for both club teams looking for a challenge, and amateur/corporate teams looking to do team-building with their employees and promote their business in a fun & unique way.

Democrats are walking away from election night as big winners. Voters have elected Democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani as the next mayor of New York City. Elsewhere, Democrat Abigail Spanberger won the Virginia governor's race, Democrat Mikie [[ MY-key ]] Sherrill won the governor's race in New Jersey and California voters passed Proposition 50 which called for the redrawing of congressional maps to favor Democrats.        President Trump says the government shutdown can be ended by getting rid of the filibuster. The president made the comments while hosting Republican senators for breakfast at the White House. Trump warned that no legislation will be passed for over three years if lawmakers don't end the filibuster. It comes as the shutdown is now the longest in U.S. history.        At least nine people were killed after a UPS jet crashed at Louisville Muhammad Ali Airport. The crash on Tuesday sent a massive fireball into the air and eleven people to the hospital. Mayor Craig Greenberg confirmed the nine deaths and added he expects the number to rise. The jet had three crew members on board and some 38-thousand gallons of fuel when it exploded, resulting in damage to a number of nearby buildings.        The Supreme Court is hearing arguments today on the legality of President Trump's tariffs today. It comes after the high court agreed to fast track the case. The tariffs will stay in place until the court makes a decision.        A Chicago federal judge is expected to decide this afternoon whether to issue an emergency restraining order over conditions at the Broadview ICE processing facility. Several detainees testified yesterday that the west suburban site was overcrowded and unsanitary. The government contends that six holding cells are cleaned daily and blames state law for overcrowding.        Actor Robert Pattinson says filming for "Dune: Part Three" was a hotter experienced than he imagined. In a interview with IndieWire, Pattinson said it was so hot while they were shooting in the Arabian desert that he didn't even question anything. The actor called the experience relaxing because he said he didn't have a single functioning brain cell and would do whatever director Denis Villeneuve [[ duh-nee vil-nuv ]] wanted.
