Registration for programs begins Monday June 26

Preschool Play dough time

Preschool Play dough time will be held on Tuesday July 11,2017 from 10:30-11:30 am in the Children’s Program Room.

Children ages 3-6 are invited to attend with an adult caregiver.

This will be a fun time for children to use creativity and imagination while playing with homemade playdough.

Please register by calling 769-9044 Ext. 2 or at the Children’s Room desk.

Registration for program begins Monday June, 26

                                Book Buddies

                     The   Summer  Session of Book Buddies at the Woonsocket Harris Library will be  held  on Wednesdays July 12, 19,and26 @ 3-4 pm in the Children’s Program Room.

Each week Teen Readers aged 12-17 meet with Little Book  Buddies   entering  1st and 2nd grade  for one on– one  reading , coloring and puzzles. This is a great opportunity for teens to mentor younger children and fulfill community service hours. It is necessary for  the  teens  and  younger children  to sign up prior to the start of the program because we try to match a teen buddy with a little buddy for each session.    It is also a good way for early readers to practice their reading skills. Both groups should register at the Children’s Room Desk or call 769-9044 ext. 2.  Registration begins on Monday 6/26/17.

 

 

 

 

The government shutdown is stretching into its 31st day with no end in sight. The Senate has adjourned until Monday, leaving millions of low-income Americans at risk of losing food benefits as SNAP funding runs out this weekend. A federal judge is weighing a lawsuit from 25 states to force the Trump administration to release emergency funds.        Open enrollment for Obamacare starts tomorrow and new premiums are now posted on Healthcare-dot-gov. Plans are expected to rise an average of 26-percent, but a KFF analysis warns costs could jump 114-percent if federal tax credits expire. Most enrollees can still find coverage with higher deductibles for 50-dollars a month or less, and open enrollment continues through January 15th.        After President Trump announced this week that the U.S. would resume testing nuclear weapons because other countries are doing it, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitri Peskov says Moscow is ready to follow suit. He insisted recent tests of nuclear-powered drones and nuclear-capable missiles didn't involve any detonations and couldn't be viewed as nuclear testing. He added that if another country did resume nuclear testing, Russia would likely do the same.        The U.S. is ready to help after Hurricane Melissa left dozens dead across the Caribbean. Secretary of State Marco Rubio says rescue teams and lifesaving supplies are on standby, with close coordination ongoing with Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, The Bahamas, and Haiti. Rubio added that aid to Cuba should go through non-governmental organizations.        Sean "Diddy" Combs is now in federal prison to begin his sentence for prostitution-related charges. On Thursday, Combs checked into Fort Dix, a low-security prison in New Jersey. Combs will serve roughly two and a-half years at Fort Dix after being convicted of transportation to engage in prostitution.        Lamar Jackson returned in style to lead the Baltimore Ravens past the Miami Dolphins 28-6 on Thursday Night Football. Jackson threw four touchdown passes, connecting with Mark Andrews twice as Baltimore improved to 3-5. Miami fell to 2-7.
