The Woonsocket Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred early this morning just after midnight.  Officers were dispatched to the area outside of 156 Logee St for one report of gun shots.  Upon arrival and a canvass of the area, officers located a 33 year old male Woonsocket resident behind a nearby address.  The male was suffering from a gunshot wound.  Rescue was immediately dispatched and subsequently transported the man to Rhode Island Hospital.  The victim has undergone emergency surgery.  We believe his condition is critical.

 

No one else was injured.  No arrests have been made at this time.  Detectives are actively investigating this incident.  At this time, this is all of the information were able to release.  As information we’re able to release becomes available, we will do so.   Thank you.

President Trump says he saw online speculation about his supposed death. He was asked by reporters about questions regarding his overall health after he wasn't seen in public much over the holiday weekend. Trump said he was surprised by the online chatter because he hadn't held a press event in two days.        A U.S. district judge says President Trump's deployment of National Guard troops to Los Angeles violated federal law. The President deployed the troops in response to protests against his immigration operations in the city. Judge Charles Breyer said while individuals engaged in violence during the protests, "there was no rebellion, nor was civilian law enforcement unable to respond to the protests and enforce the law."        The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee is making public the first batch of documents related to the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The committee says it received the files from the DOJ in response to a subpoena for documents related to Epstein. The over 33-thousand pages of material provided to the panel were released across multiple files and folders on Google Drive and Dropbox.        The U.S. has conducted a "lethal strike" on a drug vessel in the southern Caribbean. In a post on X, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the drug vessel had departed from Venezuela and was being operated by a designated narco-terrorist organization. His post came just moments after President Trump had referenced the strike while speaking in the Oval Office.        A key suspect in the overdose death of actor Matthew Perry is expected to plead guilty in California on Wednesday. Jasveen Sangha was labeled the "Ketamine Queen" by federal prosecutors. The Los Angeles woman has agreed to plead guilty to five federal charges, and faces up to 65 years.        Cardi B is being cleared of assault in her civil trial in Los Angeles County. The rapper was being sued for assault by a former building security guard at a medical office in 2018. The guard, Emani Ellis, says she was scratched on the face during an altercation that started while Ellis was recording Cardi B.
