All,

The Woonsocket Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred early this morning just after midnight.  Officers were dispatched to the area outside of 156 Logee St for one report of gun shots.  Upon arrival and a canvass of the area, officers located a 33 year old male Woonsocket resident behind a nearby address.  The male was suffering from a gunshot wound.  Rescue was immediately dispatched and subsequently transported the man to Rhode Island Hospital.  The victim has undergone emergency surgery.  We believe his condition is critical.

No one else was injured.  No arrests have been made at this time.  Detectives are actively investigating this incident.  At this time, this is all of the information were able to release.  As information we’re able to release becomes available, we will do so.   Thank you.

The Senate will receive classified briefings today regarding the U.S. air strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities. The House will be briefed on Friday. This comes after a classified initial intelligence assessment indicated the strikes only set back Iran's nuclear program by a few months, not total obliteration like the Trump administration claims.        Closing arguments are underway in Sean "Diddy" Combs' sex trafficking trial. The prosecution informed the court Wednesday it's tossing some charges related to attempted kidnapping, attempted arson and aiding and abetting sex trafficking. Combs still faces charges including racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution.        The Supreme Court is ruling that Planned Parenthood cannot sue South Carolina over Medicaid funding cuts. The organization had sought to challenge the state from banning it from taking part in the Medicaid program because it provides abortion care. It was a 6-3 vote, with the court's three liberal justices dissenting. A lower court had previously ruled Planned Parenthood could move forward with its lawsuit. The decision opens the door for other conservative states to go after Planned Parenthood.        An intense heatwave felt by millions across the Central and Eastern U.S. is starting to lift today. Forecasters say temperatures will start falling in the Northeast, where places like New York and New England have been reporting record heat. High temperatures will start tapering off in the Mid-Atlantic and the Southeast through Friday.        Mississippi has executed a man who had been on death row for nearly 50 years for kidnapping and murder. Seventy-nine-year-old Richard Jordan was put to death by lethal injection Wednesday evening. Jordan, a Vietnam veteran, was the state's oldest and longest-serving death row inmate.        Denis [[ duh-nee ]] Villenueve [[ vil-nuv ]] is taking on the James Bond franchise.
