Mayor: NOBODY HAS BEEN FIRED

WOONSOCKET, R.I.: Woonsocket Mayor Daniel M. Gendron issued the following press release:

There have been several media and press reports stating or suggesting that I have fired certain city employees or relieved them of their duties. Such claims are absolutely false and are wholly without merit. I have not fired or reassigned any permanent employees, nor relieved anyone of their duties.

It is true that we have a few individuals who, after the former mayor’s removal on October 5, 2022, have chosen not to return to work. The decision not to return to work was their own decision, without discussion or consultation with me.

It is unfortunate that some media outlets report rumors and innuendos, as fact, when all they need to do is pick up the phone and call me to confirm whether the latest scurrilous rumor is true or false.
