Presidential Preference Primary Results

& Elections Integrity Seminar

Registered voters in the city of Woonsocket cast their ballots at 6 polling locations for the Presidential Preference Primary on Tuesday, April 2nd. As of 8:00PM on election night, a total of 803 voters turned out to vote in-person Election Day, another 225 voted by mail and 64 voted early in-person at City Hall. The unofficial results can be found on the RI Board of Elections website at www.elections.ri.gov. Results can be viewed statewide, or results can be viewed by city/town.

The Woonsocket Board of Canvassers would also like to take this opportunity to notify the public that the Republican and Democratic City Committees will be hosting Secretary of State Gregg Amore and the RI Department of State Elections Division for an Elections Integrity Forum open and free to the public later this month. The Woonsocket Board of Canvassers would like to welcome Rhode Islanders to an Elections Integrity Forum hosted by the Woonsocket Republican and Democratic City Committees in conjunction with RI Department of State Elections Division. This event will be held on April 20th, 2024 from 9:30am to 11:30am at the Woonsocket Education Center located at 115 Main St, Woonsocket.

Attendees will hear from Rhode Island’s chief election official Secretary of State Gregg Amore and his report on the state of elections administration in RI. After a brief presentation, attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and hear from state and local election administrators who can share their knowledge of the procedures that dictate how elections are conducted across the state.

This event will be an excellent opportunity for election administrators to better understand their constituents concerns and questions, as well as giving attendees a chance to hear the facts of election administration right from the source. The world is starting to welcome in 2026 as it's New Years in Tokyo. There was an increased police presence in Sydney as Australia rung in the new year earlier after the deadly Bondi [[ BOND-eye ]] Beach attack earlier this month. Another million or so revelers are expected to pack New York City's Times Square for the Big Apple's annual celebration.        The Trump administration is looking into revoking the U.S. citizenship of Somalis convicted of fraud in Minnesota. The state and Governor Tim Walz have been under renewed scrutiny after a video from conservative independent journalist Nick Shirley claimed to show abandoned day cares that have received taxpayer money. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said the denaturalization process is something the Department of Homeland Security and Department of State is looking at right now.        Those ringing in the New Year tonight in New York City and Boston may see some light snow as 2026 arrives. It's from a weaker area of low pressure traveling down from southern Canada that's shifting East over the Great Lakes region. Snowfall totals are expected to be on the lighter side in New York City and Boston, while western Pennsylvania and West Virginia could see be higher totals.        The Justice Department is currently going through some five-point-two million pages of documents related to the late sex criminal Jeffrey Epstein. A law passed by Congress required the department to release all documents by December 19th, but it was soon revealed there were many more files than had been previously thought. The department is looking for 400 lawyers to help review the files, looking for information about victims that has to be redacted.        New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani's inauguration is set for tomorrow. The democratic socialist is breaking from tradition and will be sworn in, according to his transition team, with "all New Yorkers" on January 1st. Democratic progressive stars including Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Senator Bernie Sanders will be featured, with AOC delivering opening remarks, and Sanders administering the ceremonial oath of office.        The College Football Playoff continues tonight. Number ten Miami will take on number two Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl in Arlington, Texas. Elsewhere, number 23 Iowa and number 14 Vanderbilt will face off in the Reliaquest Bowl in Tampa, while Arizona State will go to battle against Duke in the Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl in El Paso.
