Our Luncheon & Forum—Unhoused & Unhealthy—Barriers & Strategies to Healthcare addresses the cycle that many unhoused people go through for medical needs. This repeated cycle through ER's, clinics, hospitals, and facilities only to return once more to the streets is ineffective. We know there is a 60% higher mortality rate for these individuals that those that are housed. In January, 539 people were sleeping outdoors or in cars in RI alone. It's time we acknowledge the disparities, barriers and find strategies and solutions.

 

This event will feature a panel comprised of professionals who are developing creative ways to bring healthcare to the unhoused. Join us to learn how they are applying these strategies in their work and how you can too.

Millions are hitting the road for Thanksgiving. The TSA expects to screen over 18-million flyers between today and next Tuesday, and today's the busiest with 52-thousand flights scheduled nation-wide. Forecaster warn flights are likely to be impacted by a lake-effect snowstorm expected to sweep across the midwest and the northeast. A record 82 million Americans are projected to travel this Thanksgiving by planes, trains, and automobiles.        Stocks are higher to end the day on Wall Street. Stocks rose with Alphabet scoring a new record high after reports Meta Platforms was considering buying billions of dollars of the Google parent's AI chips. At the closing bell, the Dow Jones gained 664 points to 47-112. The S&P 500 rose 60 points to 67-65. The Nasdaq climbed 153 points to 23-025.        Russia is expected to say no to the peace deal offered by the U.S. and Ukraine. That's according the New York Post. It was reported earlier that Ukraine had agreed to a deal to end the war with Russia, with just minor details needing to be ironed out. Delegations from the U.S., Ukraine and Russia are in Abu Dhabi for peace talks. The U.S.-led plan has been changed after Ukraine objected to parts that called for it to cede territory to Russia.        A pair of turkeys have received presidential pardons. President Trump signed the paperwork for Gobble and Waddle today in the Rose Garden. Trump took a shot at former President Biden, saying the turkey pardons last year were determined to be invalid because they were signed by an auto-pen. Trump joked that he signed new pardons for the 2024 birds, saving them from slaughter. Trump went on to wish every American a "happy Thanksgiving."        Former New York City Fire Department Commissioner Robert Tucker is speaking out following his decision to quit after Zohran Mamdani was elected to be the city's Mayor. Tucker, a wealthy Jewish philanthropist, said in an interview with "CBS Mornings," set to air this week, that his religion was a factor, saying he was turned off by the Democratic Socialist's campaign. Mamdani, who'll be the city's first Muslim mayor, has many Jewish New Yorkers worried about his anti-Israel, pro-Palestinian rhetoric.        The Pro Football Hall of Fame has announced the semifinalists for its 2026 inductee class. Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald and New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees highlight the group of players being named semifinalists in their first year of eligibility. Hold overs from previous years include New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning and Baltimore Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs.
