Luis Lopez (age 40)

On March 1, 2024, the Providence County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Luis Lopez with one count of murder, one count of discharge of a firearm resulting in death, two counts of possession of a firearm without a license, two counts of possession of a ghost gun, six counts of possession of a firearm by person convicted of a crime of violence, one count of possession of body armor, one count of possession of a firearm with an altered serial number, and five counts of possession of a large capacity feeding device.

 

The alleged act occurred in the city of Central Falls on or about September 23, 2023. The Central Falls Police Department conducted the investigation.

 

The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on March 6, 2024, in Providence County Superior Court.

 

Matteo Ruolo (age 63)

Johnston, RI

On March 1, 2024, the Providence County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Matteo Ruolo with two counts of first-degree child molestation, and one count of second-degree sexual assault.

 

The alleged acts occurred in the town of Johnston on diverse dates between November 11, 1995, and November 11, 2000. The Rhode Island State Police conducted the investigation.

 

The defendant is scheduled to be arraigned on March 20, 2024, in Providence County Superior Court.

 

 

 

 

 

Protests against Immigration and Customs Enforcement are spreading across the U.S. In Los Angeles, Mayor Karen Bass has declared a local emergency because of a "significant amount of criminal behavior" in Tuesday's anti-ICE protests. Protests have also broken out in New York, Chicago, Denver and Washington, DC.        Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass has issued an overnight curfew in a one-square-mile area of downtown L.A., where most of the violence and vandalism has taken place since the protests began last Friday. The LAPD arrested dozens of protesters on Tuesday.        U.S. and Chinese officials have apparently reached a trade deal in London. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick told reporters after Tuesday's meeting that the two sides have reached a "framework to implement" a Geneva trade agreement. The negotiators will now head back to their countries to seek approval from their leaders.        Health officials in the Gaza Strip say at least 36 Palestinians have been killed while trying to get humanitarian aid. The Health Ministry run by Hamas claims Israeli forces opened fire near an aid distribution site on Tuesday. The Israel Defense Forces says the number of injuries reported "does not align with the information held by the IDF."        The world's most popular TikTok star has been kicked out of the U.S. Khaby Lame [[ KAH-bee LAH-meh ]] has over 160-million fans on TikTok, who follow his wordless, comic videos. The 25-year-old Italian had been in the U.S. since April on a visa. This week, he was detained by ICE agents in Las Vegas, apparently for overstaying his visa.        Nintendo's newest video game console is breaking sales records. The Switch Two was released last week and has managed to rack up more than three-point-five million units sold in just four days. That makes it the fastest selling console in the history of the company. The Switch Two retails for about 450-dollars.
