RIPTA to Reopen Photo Identification Office in

Kennedy Plaza Four Days a Week

Beginning March 1, 2024

 

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) announced today that the Photo ID Office, located inside the Kennedy Plaza Intermodal Transportation Center, will reopen four days a week starting March 1, 2024. The Photo ID Office, where passengers can process their reduced fare bus pass applications, will be open on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 8am to 12pm and 1pm to 4pm. The Photo ID Office will be closed on Thursdays for Community Site Visits, also known as Photo ID Road Trips.

 

"The reopening of the Photo ID Office in Kennedy Plaza is in direct response to the valuable feedback we received from our riders,” said Scott Avedisian, Chief Executive Officer. “Listening to our community is a top priority for RIPTA, and the decision to reopen the office reflects our commitment to meeting the needs of our passengers.”

 

The Photo ID Office at RIPTA Headquarters (705 Elmwood Avenue, Providence) will be closed permanently as of Friday, March 1, 2024, in order to reallocate staffing resources to the Kennedy Plaza office.

A key report shows wholesale inflation slowed last month. The July Producer Price Index shows a rise of zero-point-one percent. The PPI measures prices that businesses receive for goods and services. The National Hurricane Center says Ernesto will then head northward and into the Atlantic.        A former Colorado clerk is facing up to 22 years in prison for election tampering. Tina Peters was convicted yesterday and will be sentenced in October. Prosecutors argued she let an unauthorized person access Mesa County's voting equipment in 2021 and make a copy of hard drives, as well as pictures of passwords, and then tried to cover it up.        U.S. gymnast Jordan Chiles will not have her appeal heard by the Court of Arbitration for Sport. On Sunday, the International Olympic Committee said it would take away her bronze medal because of a scoring error. Monday, USA Gymnastics said in a statement that it was notified that CAS rules don't allow for an arbitral award to be reconsidered.
