National Holiday to Honor the Iconic Civil Rights Leader
RHODE ISLAND – Post Offices across the state will be closed on Monday, January 16, as our employees pause to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Street delivery on Monday will be limited to guaranteed overnight parcels and there will be no collection of mail.
Full retail and delivery operations will resume on Tuesday, January 17.

The world's billionaires keep getting richer. A new report by the global charity group Oxfam shows billionaires' wealth has risen sharply to a record high of more than 18 trillion dollars. Meanwhile, the report noted poverty reduction has slowed to levels similar to where they were in 2019. The charity group released the report today to coincide with the start of the World Economic Forum's annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland. A new college football national champion will be crowned tonight. Top-ranked Indiana squares off against Number-10 Miami from the Hurricanes' home turf. Country music fans are celebrating Dolly Parton's 80th birthday as the nation also pauses to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Tennessee Governor Bill Lee issued the proclamation for January 19th to recognize the country music legend's lifelong impact on the Volunteer State. The Opry marked the occasion Saturday night with its annual "Opry Goes Dolly" show, featuring tributes from Vince Gill, Lainey Wilson, Rhonda Vincent and more.
