The Woonsocket Historical Society, in conjunction with the GO! Program sponsored by the Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor,  will be conducting a Precious Blood Cemetery walking tour on Sunday, Sept. 15.  The walk starts at 1:00 pm and will finish around 2:30.  

 

This is the 5th year the Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor sponsors the GO! Program during the month of September.  All the events are free.  To check for other free events, please pick up a brochure.  They are available at all visitors' centers in the Blackstone Valley.  They are also available at the Museum of Work & Culture. 

 

Precious Blood Cemetery is located in Woonsocket, RI at the corner of Rathbun Street and Diamond Hill Road.  Please meet at the front gate and wear comfortable shoes.

House managers are presenting their case for obstruction of Congress at President Trump's Senate impeachment trial. Congresswoman Val Demings accused Trump of "total defiance." The Florida Democrat said the defiance included blocking numerous subpoenas for documents and witness testimony. It's the final day of opening statements from House Democrats.       Secretary of State Mike Pompeo plans to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky [[ VLO-doe-meer ze-LEN-skee ]] next week in Kiev. Zelensky plays a central role in the impeachment trial of President Trump. The Secretary of State was planning to visit early this month, but postponed it during the tensions with Iran.       New York City is preparing for possible cases of the coronavirus in light of its large Chinese population. More than two dozen people have died worldwide from an outbreak of the virus which originated in China and has spread rapidly. Mayor Bill de Blasio announced today that all city hospitals and health providers are trained to flag symptoms of the coronavirus.        A Northern California man accused of murdering three teenagers by running them off the road could face the death penalty. Police say the 42-year-old suspect rammed a car full of kids because he was mad about a game of ding dong ditch. The Prius crashed into a tree Sunday night, killing three boys. Anurag [[ ANN-ew-rag ]] Chandra from Corona is facing three counts of murder and three counts of attempted murder.        Teen singer Billie Eilish is letting fans know she once considered suicide in 2018. She said on the Gayle King Grammy Special that she became clinically depressed after achieving fame, which made it difficult for friends to relate to her new life. Eilish said she was in Berlin looking out a hotel window in tears as she thought about ending her life, but has since gotten help with therapy. She's nominated for six awards at Sunday's Grammys.       A lot of red wine is flowing down a California river. A leak in a tank at a Sonoma County winery on Wednesday caused thousands of gallons of cabernet sauvignon to be spilled into the Russian River. Volunteers are monitoring the waterway for potential dangers to wildlife. The winery blames a mechanical failure.
