Preschool Sensory Storytime

Located in the children’s program room. This is a new interactive storytime program that can be enjoyed by children ages 3-5 of all abilities and sensibilities with their adult caregiver. Sing our hello song, read a story, do fingerplays like Itsy Bitsy spider, and tell a story with our felt board. Then visit our sensory exploration stations. Register by calling 769-9044 x2 Walk-ins are welcome as long as there is space in the room. Cancellations will be posted on our Facebook page. Those who are registered will receive a phone call.

Learn to Code with Scratch Jr

February 18, 19, 20,

Students in grades 3-5 sign up for all 4 consecutive classes. Learn to code using the Scratch Jr iPad app. Students will be issued iPads for the duration of the class. Learn how to create characters, add backdrops, race characters, do a math problem, tell a knock-knock joke and of course make a story.

Rob Roy Academy Presentation

Join us at the Woonsocket Harris Public Library February 18th from 3 o’clock to 4 o’clock to learn about all the things that Rob Roy Academy has to offer. Lisa Goodnow will be talking about the history of Rob Roy, her experiences since she started working with them, financial aid options they have, and she will also talk about all the different courses such as cosmetology, barbering, manicuring, and esthetics. Sensory Exploration Fun

Visit our sensory tables for interactive play.

Great for ages 5-10 with adult. This sensory play program can be enjoyed by children of all ages, abilities and sensibilities with their adult caregiver. Preschool Playdough Time

Come have some fun playing with homemade playdough. Make shapes and fun designs with our cookie cutters and rollers and playdough stamps. Great for ages 3-6.

Biomes: Animals form the Sea

Learn about animals like starfish, horseshoe crabs, and pufferfish.

There will be real animals in this show. Ages 3.5 and up with adult. Tickets available Monday Feb 11

Kids will listen to stories and make a craft to take home.

Making Bath Bombs

Evening program for children aged 10 years and older, adults, & families.

Kimberly Banaczuk, owner of Miss Kim’s Handmade Soap & Body Care, will be presenting a bath bomb making class. All materials will be supplied, one bath bomb per person.  Participants will learn how the combination of ingredients like citric acid, sodium bicarbonate, essential oil, micas, & organic bubble compound can produce a soothing bathtub treat.  Registration is required and limited to 20 participants; ages 10 and older. Please call 769-9044 or stop by in person. Registrants will receive a reminder call and be notified of cancellation in the event of sickness or inclement weather. Dog Man: The Book Discussion

If you have read Dog Man and are in grades 3-5 join us for a fun filled book discussion. We will play games like “Who Am I” and Pictionary after discussing our favorite characters and situations. Juice boxes and snacks provided. Registration begins February 11th by calling 769-9044 x2

Family Music Night with Anne Marie Forer

Tunes & Tales for Tots will have you sing songs and make music with Anne-Marie Forer Includes fingerplays, movement activities and rhythm instrument play. Parents attend program with children.

Suitable for ages 6 & under. When you sign up, you are signing up to attend all 6 programs. Those that register will get reminder calls and notified of cancellation. Teen Time

Snacks are provided.  Every Friday we have games, comfy chairs, snacks, and a chance to use the Playstation VR headset. Everyone in middle school or high school can stop by to get in on the action.

 

Saturday Feb 23

Lego Builder’s Club

bring your imagination to the library and build Lego creations with new friends. Completed Lego creations may be displayed in our display case in the children’s room.  Great for ages 5 & up. An adult must be with the child at all times in the program room for safety.

 

2-4pm

Make a Volcano

Great for grades 1 and up! We will watch a short video on how volcanoes are formed.

We will be using modeling clay, playdough, plastic dinosaurs & animals, rocks, plastic trees and more to create the volcano. Make your volcano erupt by using a straw, baking soda, vinegar and food coloring.
