WOONSOCKET BOARD OF CANVASSERS AND REGISTRATION ANNOUNCES JANUARY 25th AS NATIONAL POLL WORKER RECRUITEMENT DAY

Woonsocket, RI: The Board of Canvassers and Registration would like to announce their participation in National Poll Worker Recruitment Day.

National Poll Worker Recruitment Day is a national awareness day established by the U.S. Election Assistance Commission to encourage people to help America vote by serving as poll workers.

By encouraging more people to become poll workers in their communities, National Poll Worker Recruitment Day aims to address shortage of poll workers, strengthen our democracy, inspire greater civic engagement and volunteerism, and help ensure free and fair elections.

Michael Narducci Manager of the Board of Canvassers stated "Poll workers are critical to the success of an election. Having an adequate number of poll workers to staff polling places on Election Day can ensure voters receive the assistance they need at the polls and can help provide a positive and smooth voting experience for all." "By signing up to be a poll worker, you can Help America Vote." Narducci added.

To be eligible as a Poll Worker in Rhode Island you need to be:

  • • 16 Years of Age or older

Nobody should live in fear of being attacked "because of where they are from, what they look like, whom they love or how they worship." Those words came from Attorney General Merrick Garland today nearly a week after ten people died at a Buffalo supermarket. Garland called what happened there a racially-motivated hate crime.       Four-dollar a gallon gas is being seen all across the nation and the pain is expected to get worse. The latest Triple-A stations survey shows the national average price for regular is up to four dollars and 59 cents a gallon. The four-60 a gallon barrier is almost certain to fall this weekend as prices have set a new record for nearly two weeks in a row.       Young kids who are five months removed from getting their second COVID shot can now get a booster dose. That's after the CDC gave its blessing to the Pfizer shot for kids between five and eleven. However, agency director Dr. Rochelle Walensky noted vaccination with a primary series of COVID shots in that age range lags way behind other groups.       Elon Musk says claims that he sexually harassed a flight attendant on a private jet are "utterly untrue." On Twitter, he also described them as "wild accusations." His response came after Business Insider reported SpaceX paid a quarter-million dollars in 2018 to settle a sexual harassment claim from a flight attendant.       Former New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio is running for Congress. The 61-year-old Democrat made the announcement on his Twitter account. The former mayor is running in New York's redrawn 10th Congressional District.       Two teams in the NHL playoffs are looking to go up two-nothing in their series tonight. The Carolina Hurricanes took down the New York Rangers in game one. Up north, the Calgary Flames are up one game to none against the Edmonton Oilers as those teams compete in the Battle of Alberta.
