The Library’s Studio Rhode Team will be conducting story collecting events in the library and in the community.

Here are 3 prompts to guide you in telling your Woonsocket story.
Choose 1, 2 or all 3 prompts to answer!

1.  Tell us about a favorite memory of your life in Woonsocket.
2.  What do you like about living in Woonsocket? What do you find challenging?
3.  What would you do today to change Woonsocket?
         
 In-Library Story Collecting begins on Friday, July 7th
 - Drop in or book 1/2 hr time in advance on these dates

from 10am – 12pm & 2pm – 4pm

Classes every Monday from 6 p.m. - 7 p.m.
when the library is open

This is a free class led by Connie Anderson and is limited to the first 25 walk-ins. Please wear comfortable clothing and sneakers.
*Due to the fast pace of Zumba steps, children under age 13 are not allowed to participate in this evening class.

MONTHLY BOOK CLUB GATHERING
Wednesday, July 19th at 7pm

 

The Harris Library Book Club meets on the 3rd Wednesday of every month. This month’s book selection is The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead. All who have read the book are invited to attend.

LIVE & LEARN
Meets on Wednesdays from 9:30-11:30am when the library is open. On the last Wednesday of each month, the group meets for breakfast at
Patriots Diner, 65 Founders Drive in Woonsocket.
LIVE & LEARN is a social program for people with early memory loss. The facilitator offers new ways to compensate for memory changes. People will learn new skills in a comforting atmosphere while socializing and sharing life stories over a cup of coffee. For more information,

LEARN CHINESE CULTURE AND LANGUAGE:
Water Festival and Dragon Boat Festival
Friday, July 14th from 2 p.m. - 3 p.m.
A Family-friendly presentation, free and open to all!
Come and learn at the library and then attend the SEAAURI 6th Annual Water Festival! This year, the SEAAURI Water Festival will be held at Cold Spring Park in Woonsocket on Saturday, July 15th from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

PreSchool Story Time

Story Time for ages 2-5 years
 July 19 from 10:30-11:30am

Children listen to stories, sing songs,
Kids make a craft to take home and enjoy.
play with puppets, puzzles and board books.
 
Caregivers attend story time with children.

Preschool Play Dough Time
Tuesday, July 11th
10:30 - 11:30 a.m.
Located in the Children's Program Room
COme and play with homemade playdough.
Take your own playdough home with you.
This program is for children ages 3-6 with an adult caregiver.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

ZOMBIE SURVIVAL COURSE
Open to All Teens
Friday, July 7th at 3 p.m. in the Large Program Room
Learn real life skills and techniques for the
zombie apocalypse!
In this hands-on workshop, teens will learn:
- Basic first aid and first aid kits
- How to shoot a real crossbow (with safe, foam-tipped arrows designed for indoors)
- How to design an emergency bag or Bug Out Bag
- How to "lost proof" yourself
- Knots and lashings
- How to construct an emergency shelter
- How and where to make camp

 

 

 

SMART ROBOTS for Tomorrow's Building
Friday, July 21st in the Large Program Room
This is a 90 minute workshop for ages 12 and above
This workshop aims to explain basic concepts of robotics. Working in teams, students will learn coding to instruct a simple robot to move objects in construction challenges. We will provide a hands on workshop using a Raspberry PI. The PI programming environment allows you to do many things with a tiny credit- card-sized computer! You will also learn about programmable electronics for making lights blink, motors run and a lot more.
The set-up is easy for beginners, challenging for experienced programmers and fun for everyone!

 

 

 

D&D FOR TEENS

FANDOM CENTRAL
Friday, July 28th at 3pm in the Adult Program Room


Movie Trailer Talk. The Woonsocket Harris Public Library Teen Desk presents another installment of Fandom Central.  This is a gathering place for fans of everything cool in movies and TV and a chance to talk about the things they love. Our topic will be Summer movies. Everyone from teens and up is invited. Snacks will be provided.
