General Assembly sessions, hearings canceled next week

 

STATE HOUSE – The House and Senate sessions and all committee hearings for the week of March 30-April 3 have been canceled in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

President Trump says recommendations for wearing medical masks during the coronavirus pandemic are coming soon. Trump told reporters at the White House any guidelines released by the feds may not be mandatory. He argued it's unlikely everybody will be on board with having to wear a mask.       Help is on the way for Americans struggling with the coronavirus outbreak. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin announced today the economic impact payments will be arriving within two weeks. The payments were part of the massive stimulus package passed by Congress.       Nursing homes are getting updated recommendations from the White House. President Trump explained facilities should be assigning the same staff to the same to the same patients consistently. The hope is to slow the spread of COVID-19.        The White House is reportedly putting together a COVID-19 hotline for Congress. Politico reports it will provide a fast lane for emergency coronavirus issues across the nation.        The coronavirus is forcing another retailer to limit the number of people allowed in its stores. Target will start the new policy on Saturday to promote social distancing. It will also provide masks and gloves if shoppers want them.       Today is National Burrito Day. Restaurants are still providing deals on this favorite dish despite coronavirus shutting down shops across the country. Chipotle, for example, is offering free delivery with your burrito purchase.
